What we place in your browser, and what we don't.

This statement describes which cookies and similar techniques we use, which of them ask for your consent and how you change that choice at any time. This is a translation for your convenience; the Dutch version prevails.

In short

We use necessary cookies to make this website work properly and securely. In addition, we may use analytical and marketing cookies, solely with your consent where that is required.

We do not load third-party measurement services such as Google Analytics. If you give consent for analytical cookies, we count page views ourselves and check whether the network you visit us from belongs to a company; you can read about that below under Analytical cookies. If you do not give that consent, this does not happen.

Necessary cookies

Always active. Necessary for security, technical operation, session management and remembering your privacy and cookie preferences. You cannot switch off this category; without these cookies the website does not work properly.

  • Your choice in the consent window (stored in your browser, not sent as a cookie).
  • Technical data and security logs from our hosting, for security and abuse prevention.
  • A session memory for the chat assistant, so that an ongoing conversation is not lost when you click through to another page.
  • ub_dossier: remembers for up to seven days that you have used a valid access code for the restricted part of About us, so that you do not have to enter it again on every page.

Analytical cookies

Off by default. They help us understand how the website is used and how we can improve it. We only place these after your consent.

With your consent we measure ourselves, without third-party services: which pages are viewed and for how long, how far you scroll, and where you click and move the mouse. From this we create heatmaps to see which parts of a page get attention. For this we use a session identifier in your browser (it disappears as soon as you close the tab). This is not camera or eye-tracking measurement; we only measure mouse and scroll, no keystrokes and not what you type into fields.

We also check, likewise only with your consent, whether the network you visit us from belongs to a company. How that works and what we store is set out in our privacy statement. We keep measurement data for a maximum of ninety days.

Marketing and tracking

Off by default. They can be used for marketing, advertising measurement, personalisation or tracking website use. We only place these after your consent.

Recognition by the chat assistant

If you talk to our chat assistant Ubbe and give your name, we can recognise you on a next visit, so that you do not have to tell us the same thing again. For this we use our own cookie (ub_bezoeker, one hundred and eighty days) and, as a fallback, an encrypted fingerprint of your IP address. We do not store the IP address itself.

We only switch on that recognition if you have given consent for analytical or marketing cookies. If you choose "Necessary only", the chat simply works, but every visit starts blank.

Recognition can go wrong when several people use the same network or the same computer. That is why the chat window always has a button to have yourself forgotten; with it we erase your data and the recognition.

Withdrawing or changing consent

You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent for a category, we no longer load the technique concerned and we delete the associated cookies as far as that is technically possible.

You can also delete or block cookies in your browser. That can affect how this and other websites work.

Version and changes

This cookie statement has version 1.0. If we change the way we use cookies, we will raise this version number and ask for your choice again where that is legally necessary.
