AI developer (freelance)
You build the assistants, agents and integrations that genuinely run in production for customers.
At Ubert we do not build demos that only work in our own environment. What you make is used by people who earn their living with it: an assistant that sorts email, an agent that processes documents, an integration that quietly does its work at night. That means working with real, messy data and with the question "what may the model do on its own and what needs a human to check it first" always on the table. We work in short cycles and only deliver once it works in practice.
What you do
- You build AI assistants and agents that talk to real systems, not to a demo database.
- You create integrations between existing software packages, mailboxes, document flows and our own software.
- You build in the human check: what the model may do on its own, and what needs a human to sign off first.
- You test with the customer's real data and stay on for the first weeks after delivery.

What you bring
- Experience with TypeScript or Python and with calling language model APIs.
- You understand where models go wrong: made-up answers, unreliable output, data that does not belong there.
- You write code someone else can take over, with comments in plain Dutch.
- You handle data carefully: you know what you may and may not send to a model.
Nice to have, not required
- Experience with Next.js, Postgres or Supabase.
- Experience building agents with tool use.
Your first assignment
A good first assignment is a clearly scoped assistant or integration for an existing customer: for example, having incoming email sorted and routed automatically, with a human check on top. You get access to the real context, build in short steps, test with real data and stay on for the first weeks after delivery to fine-tune it.
Pay
€35 to €65 per hour, depending on experience.
The honest bit
- You work on customers' systems, with the messiness that comes with them: old data, patchy documentation, exceptions nobody had mentioned.
- We do not do research projects. What you build has to work for people who earn their living with it.
Payment within fourteen days, no exclusivity, your own equipment and insurance, and you may send a replacement. All the agreements are set out under how we work with self-employed professionals.
How it works

Een videocall of een koffie, met iemand die het werk zelf doet — geen recruiter die je doorverbindt. We vertellen eerlijk over de opdrachten, jij over jezelf.
Klikt het, dan starten we met een eerste, afgebakende opdracht op een opdrachtovereenkomst. Bevalt het van twee kanten, dan bouwen we het uit.
Herken je jezelf in het grootste deel, maar niet in alles? Reageer toch. We zoeken geen afvinklijstje, we zoeken iemand die past bij hoe we werken. Twijfel je of een rol iets voor je is, mail of bel dan gerust eerst — dat is geen sollicitatie, gewoon even overleggen.
