Integration developer, JSON and API (freelance)
You build integrations between systems that were never made for each other, and make sure they keep working.
The least visible work at Ubert is often the most important: the accounting package that finally talks to the planning system, the orders that are no longer retyped, the invoice that is created only once. You are the one who ties together systems that were never meant for it, and who makes sure it keeps working when a vendor changes something. Precision matters more than speed here: a slip in an integration costs someone else an afternoon of searching.
What you do
- You connect accounting, ERP, planning and inventory systems to each other and to what we build.
- You work with APIs, JSON, webhooks and now and then with export files that seem to come from the last century.
- You build the error handling: what happens when a system is down or returns nonsense.
- You make sure an integration is repeatable and that duplicate processing does not lead to duplicate invoices.

- You read an API document and know within an hour whether something is possible or not.
- Experience with REST, JSON schemas, token authentication and handling rate limits.
- You are precise. With integrations, a slip costs someone else an afternoon of searching.
- You are not afraid to say that a vendor does not support something, even when that is inconvenient.
Nice to have, not required
- Experience with Exact, AFAS, Twinfield, Moneybird or comparable packages.
- Experience with queues, retries and logging.
Your first assignment
You often start with one concrete integration a customer struggles with daily: for example, getting orders from a online shop into the accounting package automatically and without duplicate processing, including proper error handling when a system is briefly down. Clear, scoped, and immediately noticeable for the customer.
Pay
€35 to €65 per hour, depending on experience.
The honest bit
- This work is rarely spectacular. It is meticulous, and it only gets noticed when it goes wrong.
- You depend on other people's systems. Sometimes the solution lies with a vendor that is slow to respond.
Payment within fourteen days, no exclusivity, your own equipment and insurance, and you may send a replacement. All the agreements are set out under how we work with self-employed professionals.
